About Junior Cricket

Kissing Point Cricket Club enters teams in the HKHDCA (Hornsby Ku-ring-gai & Hills District Cricket Association) junior season. Registrations are open to boys and girls in from ages 8 and up.
For girls wanting to play in all-girls teams, we enter teams into the HKHDCA girls competition and/or the NSJCA (North Shore Junior Cricket Association).

The competition is the next step for a player after participating in Cricket Blast or the All Girls Cricket Blast.

Matches are played on grounds in the North Shore, Hornsby and Hills District areas against other teams in the association including West Pennant Hills, Castle Hill, Hornsby, Asquith, Berowra, Mt Colah, Thornleigh, Normanhurst-Warrawee, Glenorie and Kenthurst.

In season 23/24 we had 13 teams participating from U9 to U17. Our U12 and U15 teams made the Semi Finals, with our U15s team winning their Grand Final against WPHCCC.

In season 22/23 our Junior teams had a successful season:

  • U13 White - Premiers and Grand Final winners
  • U13 Girls Stage 1 - Cup Grand Final winners
  • U11 Girls Stage 1 - Cup Grand Finalists
  • U17 - 4th place, Grand Finalists
  • U15 - 3rd place, Semi Finalists
  • U14 - 4th place, Semi Finalists

In season 2021/22 our U12 White Team were premiers, and our U14 team finished 3rd.

Age groups

The age group a participant will play in is determined by the age of the child at 31st August in the year of registration. For instance, a child 12 years old at 31st August will play in U13 and a 9yr old on the same date will play in U10. Some players may choose to play up an age group, or be asked to due to team numbers, at the club's discretion.

The U8, U9, U10 and U11 age groups are non-competition - games can be won, lost, drawn and tied but there is no competition ladder. From U12 onwards points are awarded and the top 4 teams will compete in Semi Finals and then Finals.

Juniors playing in Seniors

From time to time throughout the season, to help put teams on the field, there are opportunities for our U14 and older players to play in the Senior competition, which takes place on Saturday afternoons between 12pm and 6pm throughout the season.

For players registered into the Junior competition, there is no extra charge to play in a Senior team. Coaches and Managers will be approached throughout the season if players are required.

Older junior players can register permanently into the Senior season, read more about U18 registrations in Seniors.

Junior Cricket Philosophy

At Kissing Point Cricket Club we believe that Junior cricket should provide all players with an equal opportunity to play cricket.

Winning games, whilst valued, is not the primary objective. We aim to ensure each player has a positive experience where they gain skills and make new friends regardless of a match result. By doing so we encourage players to return the following season, strengthening our club culture in the process.

We strive to create not only great cricketers but also great sports-people, competitors and team mates by providing opportunities for every player on their cricketing journey.

Junior cricket relies on a strong relationship between players, coaches, managers, parents and the Kissing Point Cricket Club, all contributing and working together to create a great experience for everyone involved.

Umpiring Junior Cricket

The HKHDCA website provides all relevant information in their Club Policy section. The NSJCA also provides junior umpiring information via its "Blue Book". There are a few minor differences between the associations, such as retirement rules, so please be aware of them if you are umpiring in games across both.

If you are considering umpiring a Junior cricket match, please read and understand the rules for the relevant Stage of Junior cricket you will be umpiring. Please also read the Laws of Cricket.

Recap of Season 2021/22

Season 2021/22 provided many challenges for the club and teams.

The season started late, in October, due to Covid-19 lockdown conditions and as with season 2020/21 the season was cut short due to heavy rainfall at the end of February and March.

In between, we had 15 Junior teams having a great time competing in two associations every Saturday morning on grounds across the North Shore, Hornsby and Hills District.

The Committee would like to thank all volunteer coaches, managers and parents who assisted with scoring, umpiring and training throughout the season, we could not have done it without you.

U12 White Premiers 2021/22

Congratulations to U12 White, Minor Premiers and Premiers for Season 2021/22.

The team went through the season undefeated, with 11 wins and 2 n/r out of 13 matches eventually winning the Grand Final by 7 wickets.

Special mentions go to our other Junior teams:

  • U14s just missed out on 2nd place by 0.06% on quotient. Unfortunately due to the wet end to the season, their SF was awarded to eventual Premiers Oakhill College in 2nd place
  • U13 Reds finished in 5th place, just one point behind 4th. Again, washouts at the end of the season didn't help their bid for the semis.
  • Starting the season with a close 4 run loss to last season's premiers and a close loss on the 2nd last ball in round 2, U15 Reds finished in 6th place, 2 wins off 4th place.

Girls Cricket

We were very pleased for the first time to have both Stage 1 and Stage 2 Girls Cricket teams playing in the North Shore Junior Cricket Association (NSJCA) on Saturday mornings.

Both teams had a huge amount of fun carrying the skills they have learnt in Master Blasters into junior cricket and we look forward to them returning to Junior cricket again next season.

Recap of Season 2020/21

The 2020/21 season saw 151 players across 13 teams take the field in a challenging year due to COVID and the La Nina weather pattern.

Despite these lingering challenges, our Mixed Stage 1 teams had a ball of fun and our competitive Mixed Stage 2 and 3 teams performed admirably to register great results.

Special mentions to our 3 U13 teams in the Blues, Reds and White who finished in 3rd, 5th and 6th position in their competition.  A true reflection of the greatly distributed talent Kissing Point is producing through our blaster programs!

To top it off, KPCC Juniors attained 2nd place in the Club Championship for season 20/21.

Sixers Girls Cricket League

A girls Stage 2 team was formed for the first time since the inception of the Sixers Girls Cricket League.  All the girls had so much fun and are looking to come back next season with some more friends as the League grows another Stage catering our U10s and U11s girls.

The same can be said for the rest of our juniors as they prepare themselves for the 60th anniversary of Kissing Point Cricket Club.
