Senior teams at Kissing Point Cricket Club

We provide a welcoming and friendly environment for those wishing to play at all levels, regardless of ability. Haven't played in a while or looking to try cricket for the first time? In the first instance please send an email to the Senior Contact emails addresses provided below.

Background

Our senior competition is a mixed competition playing a mix of long format 2 day games (2 Saturdays), 35/40 over One Day matches and a  pre-season T20 competition. Due to Covid restrictions, in season 21/22 all games were one day matches.

Senior grades available are A through to D2. In season 2021/22 we fielded 7 teams in the following grades:

  • A
  • B2
  • C3
  • C4
  • D
  • D2 (x2 teams)

In season 2021/22 we had many KPCC Juniors moving into our Senior teams as full-time players and we are looking forward to welcome more juniors from last season's U15 teams into our senior teams.

Competition

Kissing Point Teams participate in HKHDCA (Hornsby Kuring-Gai Hills District Cricket Association) competition which usually runs from September to March following year during each summer.

Senior Competition cricket registration

Registrations are now open for the 22/23 Senior Competition season.

Juniors under the age of 18 playing seniors can use an Active Kids Voucher.

Juniors playing in Senior cricket

If your son or daughter cannot find a Junior team or they do not wish to play in the Junior competition, they may like to play in a Senior team.

In all seasons we have a number of U14s and older playing in all senior grades, A to D. In season 2021/22 we had a large number of KPCC juniors, especially U15s, playing in all grades from A to D2 either full time or casually.

Casual matches

Throughout the season there are opportunities for our U14 and older players to play in Senior teams on a casual basis to fill vacancies.

There is no extra registration charge for a registered junior player to play in a Seniors team on a one-off basis.

Players wanting to play on a one-off basis should register into the Junior Competition.

Full Time registrations

When a player has decided to play full time in the Senior Competition, please use the Senior registration form to register. Choose the "(Under 18)" registration option and proceed with payment including any KPCC products you need.

Parents are most welcome to register to play as well (you know you want to!).

What happens after registration

Above all, we want younger players enjoying their cricket. Team/grade selections will be based on consultation with parents, players, Junior coaches, managers, our Senior VP and our Junior VP. Past performance in the Junior competition is an indicator of grade selection but not the only indicator.

Players may move up or down a grade (depending on their player rating and availability of places) to ensure they are enjoying their time playing cricket for our club.

Once selected, parents and participants will be notified of their squad.

Match Day

Our Senior cricket is adult-level cricket, with at least 70 overs bowled in a day for One-day matches (80 in A Grade). Games start at 12, 12:30 or 1pm and go through to 6 or 6:30pm. Please be at the match at least 30 minutes before commencement.

All players registered into Senior teams are expected to adhere to the Senior selection policy.

The contact person for all questions is Naveen, our Junior VP. Registration questions & issues should be directed to the club Registrar.

Player selection

Selection into a senior team is determined by your availability and player rating. All senior players should read the Senior grade selection policy as it contains important information on finals selections.

Your rating determines which team you can play in and is set by the HKHDCA.

As a guide, the following list gives a rough indication of where you can expect to play

  • 0 rated players - A Grade only
  • 1 rated players - A Grade
  • 2 rated players – A2 Grade (Kookaburra Cup)
  • 3 rated players - B Grade
  • 4 rated players – B2 Grade
  • 5 rated players - C Grade
  • 6 rated players – C2 Grade
  • 7 rated players - C3 Grade
  • 8 rated players – C4
  • 9 rated players – D Grade
  • 10 rated players – D2 Grade
  • 11 rated players – below average D2 Grade

Players with a rating for lower grades may play up in a higher grade, for instance if the higher grade team is short players or if you want to "have a go" and a place is available.

For those players who are new or have not played for a while, you will be given a provisional "P" rating until your rating is determined by on-field results. Players with a P rating may be moved up or down grades within a season depending on results.

A dispensation "D" may be given for a higher grade player to play in a lower grade team, for instance a parent may wish to be in the same squad as their child. This is at the discretion of the Association and dispensated players are restricted in their balls faced and overs bowled.

If you haven't played cricket in a while, or have never played, and you are interested in playing we recommend you contact our VP Seniors.

Please also refer to the Senior Selection policy.
